Role Overview:

The Head of Student Behaviour and Wellbeing will play a pivotal role in maintaining a safe, positive, and productive learning environment at Abbotts High School. The role involves overseeing student discipline, wellbeing initiatives, and the coordination of academic programs. The individual will be part of the senior management team and will collaborate with various stakeholders to foster a supportive school culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Serve as a member of the school’s management team, contributing to strategic decisions and initiatives.

  • Academic and Timetabling Coordination: Oversee and manage the academic programs and ensure they align with student needs.

  • Parent Engagement: Conduct parent interviews and address parental concerns regarding student progress and wellbeing.

  • Student Discipline: Implement and enforce the Code of Conduct to maintain a positive school culture.

  • Events Management: Coordinate and manage school events that support student development and community building.

  • Student Leadership Development: Foster the growth of student leadership programs and initiatives.

  • Outreach and Community Programmes: Coordinate and manage community outreach projects.

  • Financial Oversight: Manage budgets related to student behaviour, wellbeing, and extracurricular activities.

  • Innovation and Research: Drive initiatives focused on student behaviour, wellbeing, and personal development.

  • Academic Guidance: Provide academic leadership, ensuring the wellbeing and success of all students.

  • Strong motivation skills and empathy when dealing with students, staff, and parents.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents.

  • Self-motivated with a high level of initiative and energy.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and conflict management skills.

  • Proficient in computer applications and educational technologies.

  • Ability to work as part of a team and foster positive relationships.

  • SACE Registration required.

Requirements:

  • A recognised degree and/or a 4-year post-matric teaching qualification.

  • Minimum 5 years of teaching and management experience in a similar role or educational setting.
