🧾 Job Description

The Junior IT Helpdesk Technician is responsible for providing first-level technical support to users across the Hollywood Group. This includes remote desktop assistance, troubleshooting Windows applications, network issues, VoIP, and more. The role requires a blend of technical expertise, excellent communication, and a customer-first mindset.


🔧 Key Responsibilities

✅ Provide Technical Support

  • Deliver Level 1 support via ITSM ticketing system

  • Troubleshoot software, hardware, and network issues (VPN, VoIP, MS Office 365, etc.)

  • Offer remote support to multi-regional users

🗂️ Administrative Tasks

  • Log and manage support tickets accurately

  • Maintain detailed records of all incidents

💬 Customer-Centric Support

  • Provide timely feedback and resolution updates to users

  • Maintain user privacy and data protection compliance

🤝 Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with IT colleagues to solve escalated issues

  • Participate in team projects and knowledge sharing

📶 Network Monitoring

  • Use tools like Libre LMS and Nagios to track branch connectivity

  • Alert team and respond to disruptions efficiently

📈 Escalations

  • Escalate complex issues to appropriate support levels

  • Assist with IT infrastructure and connectivity troubleshooting


🎓 Qualifications & Experience

  • Matric (Grade 12)

  • Relevant IT qualification

  • 1 year of experience in an IT Helpdesk environment preferred

✔️ Advantageous Certifications

  • CompTIA A+ / N+

  • ITIL Foundation (advantageous but not required)


🧠 Skills & Competencies

  • Knowledge of Microsoft OS, Office 365, basic networking, hardware

  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal)

  • Strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities

  • Detail-oriented and committed to customer service excellence

  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt quickly

  • Team player with a proactive approach

  • Willing to work rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and graveyard shifts
