Job Description:
The Agricultural Research Council (ARC) is looking for highly skilled, experienced, and dynamic individuals to join the Kaonafatso ya Dikgomo Beef Recording and Improvement Scheme. These internships will provide essential support in the improvement and recording of beef cattle for smallholder farmers across South Africa. Interns will participate in various training, recruitment, and support activities for farmers within the scheme.
Key Responsibilities:

Animal Recording and Improvement Services: Provide support to smallholder farmers in the recording and improvement of beef cattle.

Training and Recruitment: Assist in the training and recruitment of farmers and teams participating in the Kaonafatso ya Dikgomo Beef Scheme.

Farm Visits: Conduct visits to farms for beef recording and improvement activities.

Farmer Focus Sessions: Participate in focus group sessions and meetings with farmers’ teams/individuals.

Database Compilation: Gather and compile herd statistics and performance data to track livestock performance indicators.

Support for Provincial Teams: Collaborate with provincial teams to implement project activities.

Reporting: Compile monthly reports on activities, progress, and performance.
Job Requirements:

Qualification: National Diploma in Animal Production.

Good communication skills (written and verbal).

Strong interpersonal and human relations abilities.

Motivated to travel to farms and villages across the country.

Security Clearance: Appointment will be subject to a positive security clearance.

Probation Period: Permanent appointments are subject to a six-month probation period.
