Shelly Beach Hospital is hiring three (3) Laundry Assistants to support their essential linen and laundry services. This is a critical opportunity to work in a professional healthcare environment, ensuring high hygiene standards and supporting patient care.
🧺 Role Overview
As a Laundry Assistant, your main responsibility will be to maintain cleanliness across hospital laundry facilities, ensuring wards are well stocked with clean linen and assisting in the use of commercial laundry equipment.
📝 Key Responsibilities

Collect soiled linen from wards and deliver fresh linen regularly

Operate and maintain industrial washing, drying, and ironing machines

Pre-treat stained linen before washing
-
Return clean linen to departments promptly
-
Follow health, hygiene, and safety standards, including wearing PPE
-
Meet daily laundry production demands while ensuring quality

Maintain order and cleanliness in the laundry area
✅ Requirements & Competencies
Minimum Requirements:

Grade 12 or NQF Level 4

1 year of relevant experience in laundry or housekeeping (healthcare setting preferred)
Skills & Competencies:

Basic computer literacy
-
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards

Ability to operate commercial laundry machinery

Strong organization and problem-solving skills

Good verbal and written communication
-
Team player with a flexible attitude and willingness to work shifts
