Position Overview:

AISJ is seeking a dedicated Learning Support and English Acquisition Teacher for their Pretoria Campus starting in August 2026. This position will be responsible for supporting students with mild to moderate learning needs or those acquiring English, working within the Elementary and Middle School divisions. The teacher will collaborate with administrators, general education teachers, and parents to ensure student success.

Key responsibilities include providing both pull-out and co-teaching support, creating personalized learning plans, and using data to support student progress in both learning and language acquisition. The teacher will work closely with the Student Success Team to implement inclusive practices and foster a collaborative, growth-minded environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Students: Provide learning support and English language acquisition services to students with mild to moderate learning needs or those acquiring English.

  • Collaborate: Work closely with teachers, counselors, and administrators to develop and implement individualized learning plans.

  • Incorporate Data: Use student data (e.g., WIDA) to inform instruction and modify teaching strategies.

  • Communication: Engage regularly with parents and faculty to track student progress and provide feedback.

  • Lead Professional Development: Contribute to and lead professional learning opportunities for staff to support inclusive teaching practices.

  • Assessment & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of student progress, assessments, and communication with parents.

  • Support Inclusion: Collaborate with colleagues to develop inclusive practices that support all learners and contribute to a positive school culture.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Learning Support, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

    • Certification in Special Education and English Language Acquisition.

    • Experience working with students with diverse learning needs and English language learners at the Elementary and Middle School levels.

    • Proven ability to create Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs).

    • Experience in implementing Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents.

  • Desired Skills:

    • Experience working in a multicultural environment.

    • Ability to lead innovative teaching practices and contribute to the development of new learning strategies.

    • Experience using data to improve teaching and student outcomes.

    • Passion for inclusion and student-centered learning.

Work Schedule:

  • Work Days: Monday through Friday (188 days per school year).

  • Work Hours:

    • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday: 7:10 AM – 3:30 PM

    • Wednesday: 7:10 AM – 4:00 PM
