Job Purpose
This role is responsible for preparing food according to menu specifications and production requirements. The individual plays a key role in maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, safety, and cleanliness in the production area.
Key Responsibilities

Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in all work areas

Follow instructions and carry out tasks to specification

Report abnormalities to the Supervisor promptly
-
Use correct airline-specific equipment
-
Operate dishwashing machines and handle cleaning agents correctly
-
Monitor cleaning supplies inventory and report shortages
-
Prepare extras/additional meals as instructed
-
Clean tools and surfaces before, during, and after use
-
Maintain an organised and sanitised workstation
-
Use PPE and follow proper food handling and hygiene standards

Work in any department within the Air Chefs schedule

Follow stock rotation procedures (FIFO)

Minimise wastage through proper food preparation techniques

Identify and report unsafe conditions or practices

Comply with SHEQ, HACCP, food safety, and operational policies
Qualifications & Experience
-
Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent
-
0–6 months of experience in any working environment

Willingness to undergo internal food safety and HACCP training
