🎯 Purpose of the Job
To develop, implement, and manage planned, preventative, corrective, and breakdown maintenance plans, oversee the repair of common-use facilities, and manage the day-to-day operations of the Facilities Maintenance Business Unit.
🧠 Minimum Requirements
🎓 Qualifications:
-
Matric / Grade 12
-
Diploma + Advanced Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Facilities Management or related field (NQF Level 7)
-
Preferred: Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) – Electrical or Mechanical
💼 Experience:
-
10 years of relevant work experience in Facilities Maintenance
-
3 years’ senior management experience
-
Proven record in planning and managing routine and planned maintenance initiatives
⚙️ Key Responsibilities
Operational Management:
-
Contribute to and align divisional strategy with business unit objectives
-
Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure efficient service delivery
-
Drive productivity, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
-
Use insights and data to guide decisions and compile performance reports
Functional Management:
-
Oversee all maintenance operations, including routine, corrective, and breakdown services
-
Manage planned and preventative maintenance across all SABS sites
-
Inspect facilities and recommend corrective actions to improve performance
-
Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and ensure compliance with policies
-
Implement and enforce safety and quality standards within the unit
Risk & Compliance Management:
-
Identify, manage, and mitigate operational risks
-
Ensure compliance with governance and audit requirements
-
Maintain and enforce Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
-
Monitor changes in regulations and adapt processes accordingly
-
Conduct safety meetings and enforce compliance with health and safety laws
Financial Management:
-
Contribute to annual budgeting and strategic planning
-
Monitor and manage budgets to prevent variances
-
Implement financial controls to ensure effective cost management
