Job Description:

Prestige Cosmetics Group is looking for a passionate and driven Marketing Intern to join the Luxury Cosmetic Brands division. As a Marketing Intern, you will work closely with the Brand Manager to drive the brand’s growth in South Africa, utilizing global strategies while tailoring them to the local market. This role is designed for an ambitious individual eager to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.


Position Overview:

As a Marketing Intern, you will support the Brand Manager in ensuring the optimum execution of the brand strategy in South Africa. The role focuses on driving the brand’s performance, supporting sales initiatives, managing stakeholder relationships, and overseeing marketing/brand support functions. You’ll also have the opportunity to gain valuable insights into the luxury cosmetics industry while honing your marketing skills.


Key Responsibilities:

Business Performance & Brand Strategy:

  • Assist the Brand Manager in adapting global strategies to meet local market needs while adhering to international brand guidelines.

  • Help maintain the brand image in South Africa and ensure brand equity and integrity.

  • Support the Brand Manager in presenting the brand strategy during seasonal strategy sessions with retailers.

  • Liaise with senior marketing managers to align with overall marketing goals.

  • Provide insights and recommendations on brand performance (sales, SKUs, new launches).

Sales Performance & Inventory Management:

  • Track brand performance through regular reports on sales, retailer performance, SKU performance, and PR activities.

  • Assist in new product launches by coordinating stock tracking, receipt of retailer orders, distribution, and follow-up reporting.

  • Conduct competitor and market research to inform decision-making.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to ensure the brand receives maximum market exposure.

  • Coordinate and implement PR activities to promote new launches and track local media and digital coverage.

  • Support internal and external stakeholders by providing timely and accurate brand-related information.

Marketing/Brand Support Functions:

  • Assist with inventory review, retailer sales reporting, and monthly brand performance reporting.

  • Manage the product process flow, ensuring all new products are loaded accurately and on time.

  • Support the Brand Manager in preparing and submitting retailer buy plans and marketing calendars.

  • Track competitor activities monthly and extract actionable insights from analysis.

  • Spend time in-store to gain customer insights and trade experience.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • A Business/Marketing degree would be advantageous.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and design applications).

  • Experience in the cosmetics industry, especially in the luxury sector, is an advantage.

  • A strong interest in cosmetics and an understanding of current industry trends.
