ABOUT US:
Since 2008, African Leadership Academy (ALA) has sought to identify, develop, and connect the most promising young leaders on the African continent. Our learning community serves 260 young leaders aged 16–19. Students spend two years at the academy engaging with the knowledge, skills, habits, and mindsets that accelerate their trajectories of ethical and effective leadership. ALA is a learning community committed to academic rigor, leadership development, and intentional community building.
In 2019, ALA partnered with the Washington, DC-based School for Ethics and Global Leadership (SEGL) to offer the SEGL at ALA programme — a semester-long residential experience for exceptional high school juniors and seniors from around the world, with a curriculum centered on ethical thinking, leadership, and international affairs.
ALA is now seeking a Part-Time Spanish Teacher to join its faculty for the 2025–2026 academic year. The role involves teaching Spanish to two student cohorts in the SEGL at ALA programme:

Cohort 1: September–December 2025

Cohort 2: January–May 2026
Key Responsibilities:

Plan, teach, and assess Spanish for 5–8 students with varied language fluency (8 in-person classes/week)

Provide timely, constructive feedback and submit reports in line with school standards

Differentiate instruction based on student needs, including AP Spanish preparation
-
Implement inclusive teaching practices and accommodate diverse learners

Participate in SEGL faculty meetings as agreed with the Programme Director

Maintain high standards of professionalism and child safeguarding
Minimum Requirements & Selection Criteria:
Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Education
-
Proven experience teaching Spanish
Preferred:

PGCE qualification

Experience teaching Advanced Placement (AP) Spanish
