About the Programme
Petroleum Agency SA, funded by the Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA), invites unemployed South African graduates to apply for its Two-Year Internship Programme 2026/2027. The internships will commence in February 2026.
Available Internship Opportunities
1. Intern: Petroleum Geoscience (x1)
-
Learn the fundamentals of Geology and Geophysics for the oil and gas industry (onshore & offshore).

Gain skills in seismic data interpretation, petroleum systems modelling, resource evaluation, GIS, and South African Geology.
Minimum Qualification: B.Sc. Honours in Geosciences (4 years).
2. Intern: Environmental Compliance (x1)

Learn to process environmental authorisation applications, compliance monitoring, and audits.

Engage with stakeholders, practitioners, and regulatory bodies.
Minimum Qualification: B.Sc. Honours in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, or Natural Sciences (4 years).
3. Intern: Finance (x1)
-
Rotate through finance processes: accounts receivable/payable, petty cash, cashbook, financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, taxation (VAT & Income Tax), and asset management.
Minimum Qualification: National Diploma in Accounting (3 years).
