The Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) is seeking a Plant, Equipment and Machinery Appraiser/Valuer to join its Gauteng-based team. This is a permanent opportunity for a qualified professional to independently evaluate physical assets used as collateral or investment assurance.
This role is critical in ensuring that all plant, machinery, and equipment are accurately valued to industry standards, helping inform business decisions and mitigate risk in industrial development projects.
🎯 Role Purpose
To provide independent assessments and expert advice on the replacement cost, open market value, forced sale value, and overall asset condition of plant, machinery, and equipment. This includes assessing the viability of installations and ensuring IDC’s asset register is credible and reliable.
🧠 Key Responsibilities

Conduct independent valuations of plant, equipment, and machinery.

Advise on:

Capital expenditure estimates vs industry norms
-
Economic and physical obsolescence of assets
-
Remaining useful life of assets and collateral implications
-

Evaluate clients’ installation strategies and project milestones.

Identify risks and recommend mitigation strategies.

Validate valuation reports from third-party valuers.

Continuously improve internal valuation processes, templates, and systems.

Write detailed valuation and assessment reports for committees.

Engage effectively with internal teams, SBUs, and external stakeholders.
📚 Qualification & Experience
Minimum Qualifications:

Degree or National Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical/Industrial) or equivalent (NQF Level 6)

ECSA candidacy required

Additional advantage:

Registered Professional Engineer (ECSA)
-
Member of RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors)

Member of ASA (American Society of Appraisers)

Experience:
-
3–5 years experience in plant, machinery, and equipment valuation.

Experience in mechanical/industrial engineering or financial services is advantageous.
