Purpose of the Role:
To perform maintenance and repair of reported plumbing issues, execute planned installations, and conduct scheduled maintenance on plumbing systems across the university campus.
Minimum Requirements:

Qualified Artisan (Plumbing certificate)

Minimum 3 years of plumbing experience in the built environment
Recommendations:

Experience in a higher education setting is advantageous
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Repairs:
-
Service/replace geysers, flush-masters, tap washers, toilet systems
-
Locate and repair burst pipes
-
Inspect jobs, plan, and order materials
-
Test plumbing systems
-
Identify problems and plumbing breaks
Planned Installations:
-
Install new main water lines, freshwater pipes, sewer systems
-
Install plumbing in buildings and irrigation systems
-
Install geysers
Scheduled Maintenance:
-
Inspect main water lines and valves to the reservoir
-
Ensure reservoir compliance with safety standards
-
Check functionality of fire hydrants and connections
Breakdown Call-Outs:
-
Respond to plumbing emergencies (including weekends and after hours)
-
Participate in standby duty
-
Ensure follow-up permanent repairs meet required standards
Administration:
-
Collect and clarify job cards from the Foreman
-
Record materials used and obtain sign-off
-
Submit completed job cards
Equipment and Machinery Maintenance:
-
Service and maintain plumbing tools and equipment
-
Maintain maintenance records and submit performance reports
Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Compliance:
-
Report unsafe conditions
-
Ensure compliance with SHE protocols (PPE, signage)

Submit regular reports and corrective actions
