Job Description:

The Assistant Storeman plays a critical role in inventory management and stock control. You will be responsible for monitoring stock levels, ensuring that inventory is properly organized, and assisting with the receiving, issuing, and rotation of stock to ensure smooth production operations. Your role is key in maintaining the flow of raw and production materials and keeping accurate records.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Inventory Management:

    • Track and manage the current stock levels.

    • Decide when to reorder stock based on inventory levels and production needs.

    • Ensure all items issued from the store are recorded and checked daily.

  • Stock Receiving, Rotation, and Issuing:

    • Supervise the process of receiving, rotating, and issuing stock efficiently.

    • Ensure that raw and production materials are available and properly stored.

  • Team Supervision:

    • Supervise staff productivity and ensure that all staff manage their time and attendance effectively.

    • Provide guidance on the clearance of daily production from the factory floor.

  • Strategy and Communication:

    • Develop strategies for efficient stock management and communicate these strategies to the team.

  • Month-End Stock Take:

    • Assist in performing monthly stock takes and provide accurate data for reporting purposes.

  • General Store Management:

    • Maintain a safe and organized storage area to make inventory easily accessible.


Qualification Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.

  • Knowledge of raw materials and production materials essential.


Experience Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar position (storekeeping or warehouse management).

  • 1–2 years of experience in stock control.

  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Ability to track stock levels precisely and manage inventory data.

  • Communication and Organizing Skills: Must be able to effectively communicate with staff and organize inventory efficiently.

  • Numerical and Planning Skills: Strong ability to manage numbers, stock levels, and create plans for effective stock management.

  • Teamwork and Leadership: Experience in leading a team, maintaining productivity, and fostering teamwork.

  • Results-Oriented and Sense of Urgency: Must be driven to achieve goals efficiently and work under time constraints.


Other Requirements:

  • Hands-on approach and ability to manage the ordering of technical goods.

  • Willing to work overtime and unusual working hours as needed (including weekends and public holidays).

  • 6-day work week.
