About the Role:

St Dunstan’s College is seeking an experienced and dynamic Deputy Head (Academics) to join their Senior Leadership Team due to the retirement of the current incumbent. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Academic Programme: Ensure rigorous and engaging curriculum delivery.

  • Set and Monitor Academic Targets: Continuously monitor student outcomes to drive improvement.

  • Manage Timetables and Assessments: Handle internal assessments, reporting, and academic schedules.

  • Curriculum Development: Align with IEB standards and international best practices.

  • Lead Professional Development: Mentor and guide teaching staff in their development.

  • Data Analysis & Learner Support: Implement interventions based on academic data.

  • Coordinate Events: Oversee academic-related events, including prize-givings and parent-teacher meetings.

  • Induction: Support the induction of new staff and students into the academic system.

  • Exemplary Teaching & Extra-Murals: Model best practices in teaching and contribute to extra-mural activities.

  • Innovation in Education: Stay updated on trends and contribute to curriculum innovation.


Requirements:

  • Teaching Qualification: Suitable for Intermediate Phase education.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in academic leadership or curriculum management.

  • Registration: Must be registered with SACE (South African Council for Educators).

  • Experience with IEB or ISASA Schools: Advantageous.

  • Educational Leadership: Proven ability to lead, inspire, and engage diverse learners.

  • Academic Innovation: A strong record in curriculum development and pedagogy.

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication.

  • Team-Oriented: Cooperative leadership approach and collaborative mindset.

  • Commitment: Active participation in both academic and extracurricular life.

  • Christian Values: Must uphold and contribute to the Christian ethos and Anglican values of the school.
