About the Role

School in the Woods is seeking an inspired Pre-primary Teacher to join our Pre-Preparatory team in January 2026. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver an age-appropriate, inquiry-based curriculum fostering creativity, critical thinking, and a love for learning.

  • Integrate nature and outdoor learning into daily routines, making the most of the rich natural environment of our School in the Woods.

  • Cultivate a nurturing and inclusive classroom culture where every child feels valued and supported.

  • Monitor and encourage children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development, tailoring approaches to meet individual needs.

  • Collaborate with parents, guardians, and colleagues to provide holistic support for each learner.

  • Actively participate in school events, initiatives, and community activities that celebrate diversity and belonging.

  • Maintain high standards of classroom organisation, assessment, and reporting.


Minimum Requirements

  • Qualification: A four-year degree in ECD (Early Childhood Development) or Foundation Phase Education.

  • Experience: At least three years of teaching experience in a pre-primary or similar early childhood setting.

  • Pedagogy: Proven ability to implement inquiry-based and play-based learning approaches.

  • Tech Skills: Competence in using technology to enhance teaching and communication.

  • Values Alignment: Commitment to inclusive, child-centred education.

  • Personal Qualities: Adaptable, creative, organised, emotionally intelligent, and collaborative.
