Position Summary
The Preparatory School Counsellor will work with girls from Pre-Nursery to Grade 7, supporting their emotional, relational, and social development. The role involves working within an interdisciplinary team, engaging with parents and staff, and contributing to the overall well-being of the school community.
Key Responsibilities

Provide individual and group counselling to learners in the Preparatory School

Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to promote emotional well-being

Address relevant developmental topics in classroom-based discussions

Present workshops to parents and staff on child development and mental health

Support the school community through family and individual therapy interventions
-
Contribute to the school’s transformation, equity, and belonging objectives

Uphold and support the Christian Anglican ethos of the school
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
-
Appropriate professional qualification in Social Work and/or Psychology
-
Clinical training and experience (Play Therapy advantageous)
-
In-depth knowledge of family and individual therapy
-
Strong understanding of the Children’s Act and relevant regulations

Practical knowledge of child development and emotional needs
-
Experience working in a school environment (advantageous)

HPCSA or SACSSP registration (valid and current)

Police Clearance Certificate required
