📚 ROLE OVERVIEW
To begin in Term 1 of 2026, the primary responsibility of this role is to provide counselling services to pupils in the Primary School (Grades RR–6). You will also engage with parents, support pupils in crisis situations, and collaborate with staff to present workshops or webinars.
🛠 KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Offer counselling to pupils from Grades RR–6

Engage parents to support pupil progress and interventions

Maintain a consistent, approachable presence for pupils

Provide crisis support for pupils in need

Work with Heads of Departments to deliver workshops/webinars to pupils, teachers, and parents
✅ REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE
-
Registration with SACSSP (as Social Worker) or HPCSA (in relevant discipline)

Master’s degree in Counselling or Educational Psychology
-
At least 3 years’ relevant experience, with knowledge of legislation governing social work services

Strong computer literacy

Valid Police Clearance Certificate

Passion for education and working with children

Excellent interpersonal skills, ethics, and professionalism

Ability to apply psychological models and practices to support pupils’ emotional development

Proven organisational and administrative abilities

Awareness of current educational and counselling trends
✨ ADVANTAGES

Qualification in Early Childhood Development (ECD)

Experience in aftercare at independent schools

Familiarity with Google Suite tools
