About the Apprenticeship Programme:
RCL FOODS Sugar is offering a structured artisan apprenticeship to develop engineering skills in the sugar industry. Successful candidates will receive institutional training and on-the-job experience across different factory sections. The programme culminates in a Trade Test, resulting in a nationally recognized qualification.

Programme Outline:

Institutional Training: ± 20 weeks at the Industrial Training Centre (Mount Edgecombe).
-
Factory Exposure: ± 29 weeks, including training during operations and off-crop periods.

Annual Mini Trade Tests: To track progress.
-
Final Trade Test: On successful completion of the apprenticeship, candidates will complete a final trade test to obtain a qualification.
Contracts are fixed-term, with renewal based on satisfactory progress and performance.
Minimum Requirements:

Grade 12 (Matric) and at least N3 or NCV Level 4 (N4+ is advantageous).

Required subjects: Mathematics, Engineering Science, Industrial Electronics, Electrical Technology / Electrotechnology / Electrotechnics.

Must be medically fit for a factory/mining-type environment.

Motivated, self-driven, able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:

Attend and complete all scheduled institutional training.

Rotate through factory sections for practical exposure.

Adhere to safety, quality, and operational procedures.

Maintain training records and prepare for phase tests and the final Trade Test.

Report to the Foreman (Electrical) or the relevant trade supervisor.
