This role is responsible for overseeing the overall growth and profitability of the Engineering Division within Guardrisk. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, driven by results, and able to lead and grow broker relationships effectively.

Role Purpose
To manage, grow, and develop the Engineering Division by:

Increasing revenue and profitability

Providing technical underwriting guidance
-
Supporting brokers and internal teams
-
Managing risk and ensuring compliance
Minimum Requirements
-
Relevant tertiary qualification
-
Insurance qualifications: Minimum 120 NQF credits + RE Level 4
-
Postgraduate qualification in Marketing, Trade, Management, Finance, or Insurance (advantageous)
-
Minimum:
-
3 years insurance experience (sales & underwriting)
-
1 year claims experience
-
-
Proven track record of achieving profit and growth targets
-
Strong broker sourcing and relationship skills
-
Skilled in negotiation, conflict resolution, and problem-solving
-
Excellent IT literacy – proficient in Tial, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
-
Ability to train brokers and internal staff
-
Bilingual candidates preferred
Duties & Responsibilities
-
Guide underwriters with product and rating support
-
Conduct product and technical training for brokers and teams
-
Support the claims and reinsurance departments
-
Undertake technical audits and ensure adherence to mandates
-
Maintain and enhance policy wording and product content
-
Work with marketing to distribute product updates
-
Manage complex renewals and assist in unprofitable portfolio turnaround

Evaluate new product approvals and Tial quotes
-
Build and maintain broker relationships
-
Monitor and report on book profitability and growth
