Position Overview:
The Junior School Principal invites applications for a part-time School-Based Therapist to join the Preschool team. The ideal candidate will support the emotional and social development of young girls through play-based and therapeutic approaches, and collaborate closely with teachers and parents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group play therapy to girls aged 3–6 years

  • Facilitate small group and class interventions on emotional regulation, social skills, and resilience

  • Offer psycho-educational support and guidance to parents and caregivers

  • Collaborate with teachers to integrate therapeutic goals within classroom settings

  • Contribute to staff development and psychosocial education initiatives

  • Maintain accurate, confidential records and communicate effectively within the multidisciplinary team

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualification in psychology, counselling, social work, or related fields

  • Trauma-informed and identity-affirming approach to practice

  • Experience working with children aged 3–6 years, particularly in play therapy

  • Collaborative approach suited to a school-based environment

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Registration with the HPCSA or SACSSP (preferential)
