Position Overview:
The Junior School Principal invites applications for a part-time School-Based Therapist to join the Preschool team. The ideal candidate will support the emotional and social development of young girls through play-based and therapeutic approaches, and collaborate closely with teachers and parents.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide individual and group play therapy to girls aged 3–6 years

Facilitate small group and class interventions on emotional regulation, social skills, and resilience

Offer psycho-educational support and guidance to parents and caregivers

Collaborate with teachers to integrate therapeutic goals within classroom settings
-
Contribute to staff development and psychosocial education initiatives

Maintain accurate, confidential records and communicate effectively within the multidisciplinary team
Requirements:

Relevant qualification in psychology, counselling, social work, or related fields

Trauma-informed and identity-affirming approach to practice
-
Experience working with children aged 3–6 years, particularly in play therapy

Collaborative approach suited to a school-based environment

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Registration with the HPCSA or SACSSP (preferential)
