Security Admin Officer: Vetting Investigations

Purpose

To provide administrative support for the Vetting Field Unit of the National Treasury.


Requirements

  • Grade 12 plus a minimum National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Security Management, Policing, Criminal Justice, or Public Management.

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the security industry environment.

  • Experience in office administration.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Knowledge of MS Office.

  • Skills in analysis of information, conflict management, listening, and interviewing.


Duties

1. Administer Filing System of Vetting Documents

  • Comply with relevant legislation, policies, prescripts, and personnel security procedures.

  • Facilitate the use of administrative systems, channels, and infrastructure for vetting requirements.

  • Maintain vetting, personnel suitability, and screening files.

2. Conduct Vetting Fieldwork Investigations

  • Conduct fieldwork investigations on secret and top-secret cases per SSA vetting standards.

  • Compile vetting reports including subject, references, combined reports, memorandum, and diary.

  • Prepare files and ensure safe submission to SSA for evaluation, polygraph exams, and clearance issuance.

3. Support Vetting Operations

  • Scrutinize documents to determine required actions for meetings.

  • Record minutes and decisions, communicate follow-ups to role-players.

  • Arrange travel and accommodation for field activities.

4. Conduct Personnel Suitability Checks

  • Take fingerprints to confirm criminal record status.

  • Conduct credit and citizenship checks.

  • Prepare official reports advising HRM on candidate suitability.

Appointment Notes

  • Performance agreement signed within 3 months of appointment.

  • Probation for 12 months for appointments exceeding 12 months.
