SECURITY OFFICER

Salary: R163 680 – R192 810 per annum
The successful candidate will be required to sign a performance agreement.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Senior certificate (Grade 12) or National Certificate (vocational) on the NQF Level 4

  • Relevant experience required

  • Basic Security Officer’s course registered with PSIRA

  • Knowledge of Access to Public Premises and Vehicle Act and other security-related legislation

  • Knowledge of access control procedures, movement control of equipment and stores

  • Knowledge of prescribed security procedures (e.g. MIS, NISA, Protection of Information Act)

  • Knowledge of emergency procedures, Batho Pele Principles

  • Interpersonal, client service, listening, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, computer, and facilitating skills


DUTIES:

  • Perform access control functions

  • Ensure no unauthorized removal of equipment, documents, or stores

  • Operate control room security equipment

  • Ensure safety of building and premises

  • Record all incidents in occurrence books/registers

  • Check parcels and equipment leaving the building for authorized removal letters

  • Monitor security cameras and alert management to risks

  • Monitor outsourced security service compliance (postings, equipment, SLA)

  • Register employees, visitors, contractors; conduct electronic searches

  • Patrol buildings and fenced areas

  • Guard vehicles and equipment

  • Safekeeping of office/storeroom keys; report losses/damages/thefts

  • Authorize entry into premises

  • Report security issues to senior personnel

  • Perform other duties assigned by Supervisor/Court Manager
