Senior Security Officer (X2 Posts)

Salary: R228 321 – R268 950 per annum (excluding benefits)


Purpose

To ensure the safeguarding and protection of lives, property, and information within the premises of the National Treasury by conducting access control, internal, and exit control.


Requirements

  • Minimum Grade 12 qualification.

  • Security Officers Board / PSIRA Grade A certification.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a physical security environment.

  • Knowledge of Minimum Information Security Standards.

  • Knowledge of Firearms Control Act, Protection of Information Act, Control of Access to Premises and Vehicles Act, Trespass Act, and Occupational Health and Safety Act is an advantage.


Duties

1. Physical Security Functions

  • Compile, implement, and manage shift plans and posting sheets.

  • Supervise personnel of contracted private security companies.

  • Act as shift leader.

  • Implement access control policies and procedures.

  • Arrange escorts for employees and visitors between buildings.

  • Implement asset control systems and monitor removal permits.

  • Enforce key control procedures and maintain records.

  • Conduct building inspections and ensure proper access control in official parking areas.

2. Control Room Functions

  • Perform security surveillance and monitoring duties.

  • Assign access cards and generate access reports.

  • Identify access control breaches and report to management.

  • Liaise with National Treasury employees on behalf of Security Management.

3. Health and Safety

  • Identify and investigate health and safety deficiencies.

  • Act as Chief Contingency Officer during emergencies.

  • Inspect security and fire equipment.

  • Participate in emergency evacuations and drills.

  • Provide first aid assistance to NT employees.

4. General Operational Administration

  • Manage registers at access points.

  • Ensure accurate filing of removal permits.

  • Enforce Service Level Agreements with the contracted Private Security Company.

  • Conduct parades during shifts.

Appointment Notes

  • Performance agreement signed within 3 months of appointment.

  • Probation for 12 months for appointments exceeding 12 months.
