Role Overview:
The Shunter Driver plays a key role in ensuring vehicles are correctly shunted into the warehouse for loading and offloading according to schedule, while strictly adhering to safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Adherence to Safety Procedures:

Follow lockout procedures.
-
Maintain man vs. machine segregation.
-
Practice safe driving and parking at all times.
-
Ensure safe hitching and unhitching of vehicles.
-
Confirm shipments are safely loaded and secured before vehicle movement.

Perform daily truck and trailer checks (oil, water levels, damages, faults) and record findings.
Operational Requirements:

Ensure correct vehicle combinations are loaded as per load plan.

Unload and load vehicles on time according to schedule.

Keep vehicle and trailer decks clean.
-
Conduct product quality checks on loaded shipments.
-
Stage vehicle in the allocated parking bay prior to departure.
Minimum Requirements:

Grade 12 qualification.
-
Valid Heavy Duty vehicle driver’s licence.
-
Excellent driving skills with good eyesight.
-
Strong numeracy and communication (verbal and written) skills.

Ability to use electronic equipment.
