About the Bursary Programme
The Sibona Ilanga Trust Bursary is aimed at supporting students who reside within a 50km radius of the De Aar Solar Power Plant in the Northern Cape. It provides financial assistance to help young people pursue any field of study at a recognised tertiary institution in South Africa.
This initiative is part of the Trust’s commitment to education and community development, helping youth in the area build sustainable futures through access to quality higher education.

NQF Level 6 Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes
Expenses Covered
The bursary may cover the following costs, depending on individual financial need:

The total value of the bursary is determined based on financial circumstances of the applicant.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

Be a South African citizen

Live within 50km of the De Aar Solar Power Plant

Have already been accepted to study at a recognised South African tertiary institution (university, university of technology, or TVET college)

Be financially needy and unable to afford tertiary education
Required Supporting Documents
You must submit certified copies of the following:

South African ID document

Proof of acceptance at a tertiary institution (on official letterhead)

Proof of residential address (must confirm residency within the 50km radius)

Proof of household income

Payslips OR

Affidavit if unemployed OR

Proof of pension or social grant (if applicable)
