About the MQA

The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is a Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) under the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). Mandated by the Skills Development Act (SDA) 97 of 1998, the MQA drives skills development in the mining and minerals sector (MMS). Its scope includes Coal, Gold, PGM, Diamond, Cement, Lime, Aggregates, Sand, Diamond Processing, Jewellery Manufacturing, and related services.


Internship Opportunity

The MQA invites applications from unemployed South African citizens who have never participated in an internship programme. Successful applicants will join the Stakeholder Relations Unit for a 24-month internship.

Reporting to: Senior Manager: Skills Development and Research

Exposure includes:

  • Workplace Skills Plans (WSPs) and Annual Training Reports (ATRs) submission process

  • Skills Development Facilitator (SDF) and Organisation registration process

  • Conducting primary and secondary research

  • Liaising with stakeholders and resolving queries

  • Report writing and presentations

  • General administration


Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Minimum: National Diploma in Social Sciences, Commerce, or Human Resources with Economics/Statistics (NQF Level 6)

  • Advantage: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Commerce, or Human Resources with Economics/Statistics (NQF Level 7)

Competencies

  • Effective communication & interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge of education & training legislation

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Attention to detail

  • Initiative-taking attitude

  • Proficiency in MS Office Packages
