About the Programme:
Sandown Motor Holdings (SMH), part of Daimler Truck Southern Africa Ltd, is offering a Diesel Mechanic Apprenticeship (Pipeline) opportunity at its Centurion Workshop. This apprenticeship is designed for motivated individuals passionate about commercial vehicles and eager to qualify as a Diesel Technician through structured, hands-on training under the guidance of experienced professionals.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Maintenance Support:

Perform repair and service work as authorized by relevant stakeholders.

Meet DTSA prescribed flat rate times for all tasks.

Conduct repairs per job card and seek guidance when required.
-
Ensure quality workmanship and adherence to DTSA standards.
2. Customer Service:
-
Handle customer vehicles and property with care.
-
Maintain professional communication with the Foreman and Service Advisor.

Ensure use of seat covers and compliance with customer care standards.

Secure and return replaced parts for customer inspection.
3. Administration and Cost Control:
-
Accurately complete job cards and record work hours.

Report faults and submit all required documentation promptly.

Follow DTSA warranty and fleet maintenance standards.

Manage parts and materials efficiently to reduce wastage.
4. Housekeeping, Safety & Compliance:

Use tools and equipment correctly as per DTSA repair guidelines.

Maintain a clean and organized work bay.
-
Adhere to all SHE (Safety, Health, and Environmental) and statutory requirements.

Follow company policies and procedures diligently.
5. Self-Development:

Take personal responsibility for continuous learning and skills development.

Adhere to MERSETA apprenticeship agreements.

Complete and submit training assessments on time.
Qualifications & Requirements

Matric / N2 certificate (with relevant trade theory advantageous)

Strong interest in diesel mechanics and commercial vehicle maintenance

Good communication, attention to detail, and willingness to learn

Ability to follow instructions and work within a team environment
