Future Nation Schools invites applications for an Afrikaans Language and Life Orientation Teacher for the Senior and FET Phase (IEB), with 2–5 years’ teaching experience. The successful candidate will raise the profile of these subjects, deliver high-quality lessons, and contribute to school development.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Raise the profile of Afrikaans and Life Orientation in the Senior and FET Phase.

  • Ensure efficient use of resources, creativity, and innovation in lesson development and implementation.

  • Deliver quality lessons and projects to achieve outstanding student outcomes.

  • Contribute to school development as part of a collaborative team.

  • Undertake duties as directed by the Head of School.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality of Teaching and Learning:

  • Provide excellent teaching and support colleagues to ensure high-quality delivery.

  • Deliver outstanding student outcomes and support colleagues in achieving the same.

  • Keep up to date with national developments in subject knowledge and teaching methodology.

  • Advise senior colleagues on teaching and learning policy and practice.

Staff Development:

  • Support, coach, and mentor junior colleagues and academic advisors.

  • Develop colleagues’ capacity to produce excellent teaching and learning resources.

  • Design and contribute to professional development activities.

General School Leadership:

  • Update Head of School, senior managers, and Governing Body on subject provision effectiveness.

  • Lead by example, achieving high standards in student attainment, behavior, and motivation.

  • Address underperformance within the team and implement corrective actions.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Bachelor’s Degree with Post Graduate Certificate, majoring in Afrikaans and Life Orientation.

  • 2–5 years’ teaching experience in the Senior and FET Phase.

  • IEB experience is essential.

  • SACE registered.

  • Ability to provide learning support in and out of the classroom.

  • Willingness to engage in professional development.

  • Clear criminal record.
