🎯 Key Purpose
To provide high-quality instruction in Life Sciences and Natural Sciences within a future-focused high school environment. The educator will be responsible for engaging learners, supporting holistic development, and contributing to the school’s academic and cultural excellence in line with Crawford International’s values and educational philosophy.
📘 Core Responsibilities
1. Academic Delivery (40%)

Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons in Life Sciences & Natural Sciences.

Incorporate global best practices, 21st-century teaching methodologies, and the Crawford academic pillars.

Enrich the curriculum using digital tools, experiments, critical thinking exercises, and field-specific resources.

Tailor instruction to individual learning needs through differentiated strategies and ongoing support.

Collaborate with other educators to promote cross-curricular learning and thematic teaching.

Support students outside class hours (until 16h00 or before school) where needed.
2. Academic Assessment & Reporting (20%)
-
Continuously assess learner performance using both formative and summative methods.

Maintain accurate records via STASY and personal mark books.
-
Provide detailed, data-driven feedback for students and parents.

Participate in standardisation and moderation processes (including IEB marking and assessments).
3. Student Behaviour & Mentorship (15%)
-
Manage classroom conduct in line with school expectations and Crawfordology philosophy.

Promote emotional, physical, and mental well-being through mentorship and support programs.

Identify and support learners facing academic or personal barriers.
4. School Brand & Culture (15%)

Be an ambassador of Crawford’s mission, vision, and values.

Attend and contribute to open days, exhibitions, assemblies, and extracurricular events.

Mentor student teachers/interns and contribute to the professional learning community.

Submit content for school newsletters, yearbooks, and social media when requested.
5. Administration & Safety (10%)

Support with inventory, classroom setup, substitutions, and excursion planning.

📑 Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7) with a specialization in Life Sciences / Natural Sciences

PGCE / HDE or B.Ed (GET/FET Phase) with appropriate subject focus

Valid SACE registration
-
Police clearance certificate
⭐ Preferred Experience & Skills
-
3–5 years teaching Life Sciences & Natural Sciences
-
Experience teaching at IEB schools and involvement in IEB Matric marking

Familiarity with the IB curriculum and inquiry-based learning approaches

First Aid qualification (advantageous)
