Job Description:

Foskor, a leading company in the mining and metals industry, is seeking a Technologist Network to join our ICT division. This permanent position, based in Phalaborwa, Limpopo, will manage the network hardware function, ensuring the optimisation of computer and network equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and upgrading network systems, ensuring optimal performance, and staying up-to-date with the latest technological advancements.

Purpose of the Job:

The Technologist Network will be tasked with managing the network hardware functions at Foskor. This includes optimising network systems, maintaining network infrastructure, and implementing new technologies to meet organisational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance and Planning of ICT Infrastructure:
- Schedule and coordinate regular maintenance of all network equipment and systems.
- Ensure technical specifications are met while catering to client needs.
Management of ICT Facilities and Helpdesk Functions:
- Handle client queries and network breakdowns.
- Prioritize and allocate resources to minimize downtime and production losses.
Project Execution and Implementation:
- Report on projects according to defined schedules.
- Manage responsibilities assigned by project leaders.
Quality Management:
- Conduct plant inspections to identify areas of improvement.
- Develop and maintain a program to continuously evaluate network requirements.
Research and Evaluation:
- Research and evaluate new technologies based on client requirements.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot network faults using network management tools and testing equipment.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

National Diploma in Information Technology or related field.
Vocational Training such as:
- MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer)
- A+ certification and knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and networks.
- Root Cause Analysis.
- JDE knowledge.
- Completion of SHEQ training.
Experience: At least 5 years in an IT environment providing computer support and network design.

Desired Skills:

In-depth knowledge of network management and system maintenance.
Strong experience with troubleshooting and resolving network issues.
Ability to manage network hardware and software resources efficiently.
Familiarity with new technology and the ability to research and implement innovations.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
