About the Programme
Hilton College is inviting applications for its Teacher Internship Programme 2026, offered in collaboration with the VULA Programme.
The initiative aims to develop excellent teachers and future educational leaders who are passionate about making a difference in South Africa’s education sector.
The year-long internship provides aspiring teachers with professional training, mentorship, and extensive hands-on experience in various aspects of school life — from classroom teaching to extracurricular involvement — at one of South Africa’s leading independent schools.
Programme Objectives

Produce outstanding teachers with strong leadership and ethical values.

Equip interns with practical teaching experience and exposure to diverse educational environments.

Develop well-rounded educators committed to community upliftment and transformation through education.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates must:

Be registering or eligible to register for a PGCE through correspondence in 2026.

Show a strong commitment to contributing to education and community development through the VULA Programme.

Be motivated to assist in a boarding house environment (Hilton College is a full boarding school).

Be able and willing to offer at least two co-curricular skills, such as:

Sports coaching

Theatre and performance
-
Debating
-
Music
-
Other cultural or leadership activities

Be willing to participate in school projects and events such as plays, field trips, hikes, sports tours, and outreach initiatives.

Demonstrate a passion for teaching, self-development, and long-term commitment to education as a career.
