Overview

The Tomorrow Trust Bursary Programme 2026 supports South African youth who wish to pursue STEM qualifications but face financial and socio-economic barriers. The bursary is tailored for orphaned and vulnerable youth, first-generation university students, and learners from low-income households.

Funding excludes Master’s degrees but covers undergraduate and postgraduate STEM studies at public universities.

The Tomorrow Trust is a South African NPO focused on empowering vulnerable youth through:

Eligibility Requirements

Citizenship & Age

  • Must be a South African citizen

  • Aged 18–31 years

Academic Criteria

  • Completed Matric or currently in Matric (2025)

  • Must be studying/planning to study a full-time STEM degree

  • Undergraduate or postgraduate (excluding Masters)

  • Must be pursuing a first qualification

  • Must attend a public university

First-Generation Student Criteria

Parents:

  • Must not hold a university degree
    (Exceptions: incomplete degrees, employer-funded diplomas/short courses)

  • Household income must be R350 000 or less per year

  • SASSA beneficiaries: proof required

  • Self-employed parents: affidavit + 3 months’ bank statements

Funding Rules

  • Must not be employed full-time

  • Must not be fully funded by NSFAS or another bursary

  • Partial funding allowed

  • Merit-based awards allowed
