🧠 Role Overview
As a Trainee Data Scientist, you will assist in developing, implementing, and optimizing data solutions, helping the business gain value from large and complex datasets. The role offers a unique opportunity to work across various data platforms, pipelines, and analytics tools.
🧾 Key Responsibilities

Design and implement data ingestion and transformation processes

Build data pipelines from multiple sources and support their maintenance

Work with large datasets in diverse formats

Enable data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) patterns

Support cloud strategies, data governance, and data architecture

Assist in building dashboards and conducting ad hoc analyses

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data requirements

Write functional and technical specifications

Support testing and deployment of new services
🎓 Minimum Requirements

Matric certificate
-
Currently completing 3rd or 4th year in one of the following:

BCom / BSc / BBusSci in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Information Technology

🧑💻 Preferred Knowledge / Skills

Understanding of data warehouse architecture, ETL/ELT, and analytics/reporting tools

Familiarity with tools like:

SSIS, SSRS

SAS or SAP ETL frameworks

MongoDB, Apache Spark, Hive

Programming languages:

Python, Scala, Java, C#, F#

Cloud platforms:

AWS and related APIs

Exposure to DevOps, database administration (e.g., TSQL, SAS, DB2)
