About the Position
St John’s College invites applications for a Fixed Term Afrikaans Teacher (Preparatory School) position for 2026. The successful candidate will inspire a love for the Afrikaans language, literature, and learning, while fostering a classroom culture of curiosity, creativity, and confident communication.
Working within a collaborative and supportive Preparatory School environment, the Afrikaans Teacher will play an integral role in helping students thrive both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver engaging Afrikaans lessons that inspire a passion for language and learning.

Teach the curriculum creatively, adapting lessons to meet diverse learner needs.

Develop lesson plans, assessments, and schemes of work aligned with curriculum goals.

Create a stimulating and inclusive classroom environment.

Monitor learner progress and provide constructive feedback.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Intermediate or Senior Phase).

Minimum of 5 years’ teaching experience in Afrikaans at Preparatory School level.

SACE registration (in good standing).

Strong communication, planning, and classroom management skills.
