Key Duties and Responsibilities

Handling and Grooming Horses
Hands-on care for horses, including grooming, washing, plaiting, and monitoring horse health. Report any issues to the Academy Manager. -
Tack and Equipment Maintenance
Responsible for cleaning, oiling, and ensuring all riding equipment is safe and ready for use. -
Stable Yard and Surrounds
Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the stables, paddocks, and surrounding gardens. -
Feeding and Nutrition of Horses
Administer feed and water as per academy guidelines to maintain the horses’ health. -
Assisting with Equestrian Training
Help with lunging, basic riding tuition, and show preparation for academy riders. -
Weekend Duties
Participate in flexible weekend tasks including events and training support. -
Miscellaneous Responsibilities
Assist with vet visits, treatments, and other duties as required by the academy.
Qualifications and Requirements

Education:

A qualification in Equine Science (or currently studying toward EQASA certification) is preferred.

Experience:

2–3 years of practical equine-related experience.

Language:

English or Afrikaans proficiency required.

Additional:

A valid driver’s license is advantageous.
