About the Role:
The Department of Economic Development and Tourism seeks a dynamic and innovative senior manager to lead the Directorate: Skills Programmes and Projects. This role is responsible for driving skills development initiatives, workplace learning, and partnerships with higher education institutions to stimulate economic growth.
Minimum Requirements:
-
Undergraduate qualification (NQF Level 7) in Commerce, Economics, or related discipline recognised by SAQA
-
5 years middle and/or senior management experience
-
3 years’ experience in skills, education, or economic development ecosystems
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Management:

Develop and manage workplace skills projects and programs
-
Partner with higher education institutions on curriculum development
-
Facilitate learner placement with host companies
-
Drive strategic planning, business plans, and evaluation of Directorate performance
People Management:
-
Recruit, motivate, train, and guide employees
-
Manage performance, discipline, and workforce planning
-
Promote sound labour relations and capacity building
Financial Management:

Prepare and manage annual and adjustment budgets
-
Ensure proper procurement, tendering, and contract management

Implement risk management procedures and asset safeguarding

Align spending with strategic objectives
