About the Internship

The William Humphreys Art Gallery (WHAG), in partnership with the MTN Foundation, invites unemployed South African graduates to apply for the Graphic Designer Internship Programme 2025/2026.

This 7-month internship (September 2025 – March 2026) offers a unique opportunity for a recent graduate in Graphic Design (NQF Level 6 or higher) to gain hands-on experience in the museum and gallery sector.

The successful candidate will contribute to various functions, including:

  • Graphic design

  • Research

  • Administration

  • Art education

  • General project support

This opportunity will help the intern develop practical creative skills, build confidence for the job market, and make a meaningful impact within a leading cultural institution.


Internship Requirements

To be eligible, applicants must have:

  • A diploma or degree in Graphic Design (NQF Level 6 or higher)

  • Excellent communication skills (English required; Afrikaans and/or Tswana advantageous)

  • Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite

  • Creativity, originality, and problem-solving skills

  • The ability to work independently, take initiative, and meet deadlines


Internship Benefits

  • Monthly stipend: R9 000

  • Hands-on experience in an active art and museum environment

  • Skills development in graphic design, education, and project coordination
