A mining operation in the North West is hiring a Grader Operator responsible for road construction, maintenance, and safe machine operation in an open-cast mining environment.
This role is essential in ensuring safe haul roads, proper bench preparation, and efficient mining operations.
🚜 Key Responsibilities
🏗️ Equipment Operation
- Construct and maintain haul roads
- Prepare benches for drilling operations
- Operate a grader according to safety and production plans
- Follow survey instructions for construction work
- Report machine faults immediately
- Complete daily safety checklists
📅 Planning & Production
- Work according to daily and weekly production plans
- Communicate delays or breakdowns to supervisors
- Support continuous production targets
⚙️ Resource Management
- Use equipment and resources efficiently
- Support supervisors in safe and cost-effective operations
🤝 Stakeholder Relations
- Maintain good working relationships with team members and supervisors
🦺 Safety & Compliance
- Conduct daily pre-start machine inspections
- Identify and report safety risks
- Perform continuous risk assessments
- Promote a Zero Harm safety culture
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
🎓 Minimum Requirements
To apply, you must have:
- Grade 12 (NQF Level 4)
- 1–2 years’ experience operating a grader in open-cast mining
- Valid Code 08 or 14 driver’s licence
- Valid grader operating licence
- Must pass medical and Dover fitness tests
- Competent in relevant unit standards
